Description:
Garnet Day celebrates mining heritage of Montana’s most intact ghost town
The sights, sounds and smells of a 19th- century town will come back to life during this year’s family-friendly Garnet Day June 13, 2026, from 10:30 am - 3:00 pm. The day is filled with educational and fun events for the entire family. Some of the activities include learning about Garnet Ghost Town’s history, panning for gold (fee charged), bidding on a dessert at the pie auction, playing old-fashioned games, enjoying free sarsaparilla and huckleberry ice cream, visiting with the Sheriff, listening to live music, and getting creative at the pioneer craft table. Lunch will be available for purchase on site. Some activities, such as the pie auction and gold nugget raffle, require cash.
This event is hosted by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Garnet Preservation Association (GPA). The day’s events are designed to give families a fun, wild-west experience in one of Montana’s most intact ghost towns, located 35 miles east of Missoula. Parking is very limited, carpooling is recommended. We look forward to seeing you at Garnet Ghost Town on June 13th!
From Highway 200, turn south at the Garnet Range Road located between mile markers 22 and 23, about 30 miles east of Missoula. Follow the Range Road for approximately 11 miles to Garnet where the parking area is located. Follow signs.
