Originally used as a trail crossing in the lush Mission Valley, Charlo was named after Chief Charlo of the Flathead Indian Tribe. Charlo upholds the history of the region, most notably with the Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana and the nearby Bison Range. The valley also offers lodging, dining and shopping, and is ideal for bird-watching on Ninepipe National Wildlife Refuge.
