Description:
Indie rock band Unknown Mortal Orchestra will bring their genre-blurring live show to Montana in 2026, stopping at The Wilma in Missoula on May 6, and The ELM in Bozeman on Thursday, May 7, with support from Elliot & Vincent.
Led by Ruban Nielson, Unknown Mortal Orchestra—formed in Auckland, New Zealand and now based in Portland, OR—has carved out a singular sound that drifts effortlessly between psychedelic rock, soul, funk, and lo-fi pop. Fans can expect a set packed with favorites like “Multi-Love,” “Hunnybee,” and “Can’t Keep Checking My Phone,” delivered with the band’s signature hazy grooves, elastic rhythms, and improvisational flair.
The band’s newest EP, CURSE, reflects the uneasy times we’re living in, pairing abrasive, Black Sabbath-inspired riffs with the intricate, laid-back guitar work UMO is known for.
On stage, UMO is known for transforming their recordings into something looser and more expansive, stretching songs into hypnotic jams and intimate moments alike (photos). Each performance feels alive and unpredictable—equal parts danceable and meditative.
