Description:
Emma and The Ledge is a guitar-slinging, blues-singing, sister duo from the Gallatin Valley. Inspired by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Beth Hart, and various blues and Marcedes Carroll, born in the Rockies, raised in Montana is a resilient, deep thinking artist with a soulful voice & songs that will cut straight through to the heart of the matter. Marcedes Carroll began singing at a young age & by fifteen she learned her first guitar chords. She became hooked & played nearly everyday, developing ambitions for performing. She began writing songs & performing at age nineteen around her college town Moscow, Idaho & her hometown Belgrade, Montana.
In 2013, Marcedes moved back to Belgrade & started performing in a classic rock band called Drink Me Pretty on rhythm guitar & vocals. At this same time she started working for a new venue in town called Live from the Divide. By day she worked at a biomed company & by night at the studio; five minutes at her day job felt like ten hours while ten hours at the studio felt like five minutes. After years of getting up at 5am to work during the day to stay up until 1am at the studio, she decided to make a change.
Drink Me Pretty disbanded & Marcedes took on her passion for songwriting. She made her first album in 2019, She’s Pretty, recording the songs with all local talent at her hometown studio Live From the Divide. In 2021 she traveled the country, her & her dog Melody, touring through the high desert to the deep south, down to the Florida keys, back up to the Carolinas, eventually making her way back to Montana.
In 2023 she cut her second project & first full length record at Bandcamp Recording Studio in Bozeman, Montana; with all local talent including Jason Uhlmann on upright bass, Ethan Decker on drums, Mike Koziel on keys, Jackson Holte on lead guitar, Ric Steinke on pedal steel, Stephanie Yeager, Krista Barnett & Sarah Price singing harmony & Austin Texas producer Scott Davis. The record released September 20th, 2024.
Her sound is best described as country, folk, singer-songwriter, pulling from 60’s/70’s influences such as Patsy Cline, Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Willie Nelson, Glen Campbell & many more.
