Description:
Khruangbin is a three-piece band from Houston, Texas, formed in 2009. The trio, with bassist Laura Lee Ochoa, drummer Donald “DJ” Johnson, Jr. and guitarist Mark “Marko” Speer, are known for their marriage of sounds from across the world – including what Vanity Fair calls “a mix of R&B, reggae, surf rock, Middle Eastern melodies, Persian phrasing, Latin rhythms, ’90s hip-hop, West African instrumentation, ethereal harmonies, psychedelic effects and rump-shaking disco.”
In April 2024, they released A LA SALA, their fourth studio album and one of their most distilled and intimate works to date. The album sparked the band’s most ambitious touring cycle yet: multiple sold-out nights at iconic U.S. venues including Red Rocks, the Hollywood Bowl, Forest Hills Stadium, Berkeley’s Greek Theatre, and a landmark performance at London’s Gunnersbury Park this past August. In addition, they’ve graced festival stages around the world including Glastonbury, Primavera, Coachella, Bonnaroo, ACL, and many more.
Even as their stages have grown larger, Khruangbin’s live shows remain deeply connective. This November, the band celebrates the 10th anniversary of their first record The Universe Smiles Upon You with a rare run of intimate U.S. club dates.
