Description:
Dive into a mesmerizing musical journey with Oceans of Sound, a program that explores the depths of emotion and the vastness of musical expression. This concert features the world premiere of The Places Where We Meet Will Never Be the Same by Missoula composer Bryan Kostors, a thought-provoking new work that reflects on change, memory, and connection.
Renowned pianist Gabriela Martinez joins the Missoula Symphony to perform Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor, a piece filled with both youthful brilliance and deep romanticism. As Schumann’s only completed orchestral piece, this rarely performed gem offers a unique glimpse into the voice of one of classical music’s most extraordinary female composers. We are honored to bring it to life on stage.
We will again collaborate with the Missoula Youth Symphony in a side-by-side performance on Bedřich Smetana’s famous The Moldau. The evening concludes with the famed impressionistic composer, Claude Debussy’s La Mer, a breathtaking orchestral masterpiece that captures the power and mystery of the sea through shimmering waves of sounds and colors.
Experience a program that flows between the intimate and the immense, where music, like the ocean, reveals beauty, turbulence, and boundless wonder.
