The film will be shown in the Swanberg Classroom on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, and will include prescreening remarks provided by host and educator Jacob Thomas.
Directed by a master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock adapted the film from the novel by Patricia Highsmith. Strangers on a Train depicts the tumultuous relationship between tennis star Guy Haines (Farley Granger) and psychotic socialite Bruno Anthony (Robert Walker) as they decide to trade murders.
Disaster ensues when Bruno completes his end of the bargain, and expects Guy to do the same. What follows is a chilling descent into obsession and psychological terror. Listed as one of the best films of 1951, Strangers on a Train puts viewers on the edge of their seats.
