Description:
Experience the fluid grace of guitar in the Mediterranean tradition by joining us to hear Grammy-winning guitarist, Jason Vieaux. The program will explore evocative music from Italian, Spanish and French composers, Vivaldi, Respighi, Rodrigo and Chabrier. From the sunlit sounds of the influential Baroque Era Venetian Antonio Vivaldi and ancient 16th and 17th century lute pieces reimagined for orchestra by Ottorino Respighi, to the legendary 20th Century, Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo, one of the most beloved pieces in the repertoire inspired by the royal 18th century Aranjuez Palace, and one the most famous orchestra pieces by a Spanish composer. Also included will be a delightful nature inspired work by Emmanuel Charbier. This opening night in the Mediterranean will set an excellent tone for our trip around the world in the 42nd season!
