Nominated as one of the Best Community Events at Whitefish, MT., Whitefish
Woody Weekend, presented by The Big Sky Chapter of the Antique and Classic
Boat Society (ACBS) and hosted by The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, has been the
unofficial kick-off to the summer boating season for the past 10 years. Whitefish
Woody Weekend, now in its 11 th year, is the premier classic boat show in the
Pacific Northwest, and will be held June 23-25, 2023, at The Lodge at Whitefish
Lake.

Always a favorite with locals and visitors alike, hundreds gather to soak up a little
history and feel the romance of a bygone era while they overlook the rows of
brilliant mahogany boats, proudly presented at their best and gleaming in the
sunshine. With classic wooden boats from 1928 to the present on display, it’s a
wonderful way for all ages to admire and learn the stories of these very special
boats.

Some come to the boat show to relive childhood memories from a time when
these boats were common on Montana lakes. Some come just to admire the
beautiful lines and details that reflect so many hours and skill in the achievement
of the restoration of these classic craft. Still a select group come with a keen
desire to “one day” find their own wooden treasure hidden somewhere, bring it
back to life and to be a part of future boat shows. Whatever the reason, many
look forward each year to the wonderful gathering of a variety of classic boat
manufacturers including Chris Craft, Century, Hacker-Craft, and Garwood that
come to Whitefish Lake for a weekend of fun and friendship.

For those who wish to find out more about the hobby of wooden or classic
boats, along with the opportunity for direct conversation with the show
exhibitors, there will be additional information available at the table at the
entrance to the docks. The public is invited to vote for their favorite boat to
determine the People’s Choice Award winner. There will be drawings
throughout the day for public boat rides on one of the classic beauties.

This year, Whitefish Woody Weekend XI has attracted 24 of the 42 boats
participating from out of state, across the west, including from Idaho,
Washington, and California.

All boat activities are free and open to the public so bring the family to The
Lodge at Whitefish Lake June 23 - 25 and enjoy this very special event!
