Fall-Weather Friend:
The Great Outdoors
Autumn’s abundance brings untold outdoor adventures—the temperature is cooler and the crowds have dispersed. Fall may as well be called “trophy trout season” here as October and November offer some of the year’s best fishing. The rivers are quieter and there’s more room to cast a line. Good hatches are on tap and monster brown trout are spawning. Off the river and on the trail, fall hiking and biking are treasured around these parts. Glacier National Park’s breathtaking Going-to-the-Sun Road is open—weather dependent—until mid-October, and fall is the perfect time to bike it.

Fall Festival Fun:
Events in Montana
One of the reasons we’re so enamored with fall in Glacier Country is that our small towns see folks eagerly gathering for festival fun and a full calendar of events. Take in events like live theater, concerts, or a stroll through one of our vibrant downtowns on an art walk or gallery night. Missoula boasts annual events like Germanfest, Montana Brewers Fall Rendezvous and Montana Book Festival. Whitefish’s much-anticipated Great Northwest Oktoberfest takes place in late September and early October. In Kalispell, don’t miss the Flathead Celtic Festival in mid-September. |
