Montana Sunshine: Campaign Update
Our Heavenly Warm Season Promotions

Summertime in Western Montana’s Glacier Country can mean only one thing…endless adventure. We’ve been busy on our own excursions, promoting the region with our warm season campaign, which includes both print and digital placements in Northwest Travel and Yellowstone Journal and digital placements through TripAdvisor, Madden Media and Matador Network. We’ve been working with our CVBs and the state to bring in digital influencers and journalists to showcase our corner of Big Sky Country, which include Kelly Huibregtse with @ASideofSweet and Andy Austin with @AndyAustinPhoto. The marketing plan and narrative for year 2018 – 2019 was completed and presented to the Tourism Advisory Council at the June meeting, and it was approved. We have also been working on our Rural Corridor Marketing Initiative. Our goal is to highlight our smaller towns and everything they have to offer. Our social media team has been out every month promoting our communities on social channels and bringing awareness about the beauty of every square acre of our region.

In other news, our 2018 – 2019 Glacier Country Travel Guide is out and about on shelves everywhere. If you’d like free copies for your business, call Kristi at 406.532.3234. We’re also working on our new micro websites for Meetings, Tour Operators and Weddings, as well as our new Partner Center, so be on the lookout.

Public Relations and
Tourism Sales Update

Our Public Relations and Earned Media Manager, Lucy Beighle, has been working on many exciting projects. She is currently planning and hosting summer visits from multiple journalists (Vicki Fletcher and Jacques VanAs from Flight Centre, Australia; Debbie Olsen from Fodors; and Matt Villano, a freelancer from San Francisco) and digital influencers (Kelly Huibregtse with @ASideofSweet and Andy Austin with @AndyAustinPhoto), as well as pitching story ideas and visiting new businesses in the region.

Our Tourism Sales Manager, Debbie Picard attended RMI’s International Roundup where she met with international tour operators and domestic-based international inbound receptive tour operators. She also hosted a meeting planner FAM trip – a collaboration with Destination Missoula, Explore Whitefish and Discover Kalispell - which traveled throughout Glacier Country showcasing meeting opportunities and our amazing dining and lodging options as well as our outdoor beauty and allure. Debbie’s trade show leads are available on the Partner Center.

FAM in Glacier National ParkLucy and Debbie also attended IPW in Denver where they partnered with Montana Office of Tourism and Business Development and met with operators and international journalists. In a joint venture, Glacier Country Tourism, Destination Missoula and Missoula International Airport partnered to promote our area to Dallas. With the new nonstop flight between Dallas/Fort Worth and Missoula, we held an event in Dallas with travel media, meeting planners and tour operators in attendance. We’re excited for the new flights coming to our region and the interest and enthusiasm for Western Montana the event created amongst attendees.
