Winter in Montana
Explore Glacier Country’s 6 Ski Areas

Snow is falling in Western Montana’s Glacier Country, which means one thing: winter is officially here. Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, the Glacier Country region welcomes more than 300 inches of snow annually to our downhill ski resorts and backcountry terrain.

With six ski areas—ranging from world-class Whitefish Mountain Resort in the north to Lost Trail Ski Area in the south—Montana’s Glacier Country has ample offerings for every experience level of skier and snowboarder.

Ski the most diverse mix of terrain in the region on 105 marked runs and 3,000 acres at Whitefish Mountain Resort. Or for a true hidden gem, make turns on the soft (and deep) powder at Lost Trail Ski Area on the Montana/Idaho border. If you’re looking for the best family friendly skiing, head to Lookout Pass Ski & Recreation Area just off Interstate 90. And if you’re looking to hit powder-lined runs with the locals, all while taking on some impressive vertical, head to Snowbowl near Missoula.
