Glacier National Park is quite the attention grabber, but there are many other treasured state parks and public lands in Western Montana to fall in love with. Head to Kalispell’s Lone Pine State Park for stunning views of Glacier, Flathead Lake and the Jewel Basin. For next-level beautiful autumn light, visit Flathead Lake’s Wild Horse Island. For some lake recreation with your fall color, visit Whitefish Lake State Park. While in Whitefish, take a zip trip above the tree line on one of Whitefish Mountain Resort’s zip line tours, Friday – Sunday through the end of September. Travelers’ Rest State Park in Lolo offers interpretive tours, fishing, hiking, bird watching and wildlife viewing, all set against a stunning fall backdrop.
